Unbeatable performance
Cars often stop on the way from Enkenbach to the A63 autobahn in order to look at and even take pictures of the globe HegerGuss cast based on the design and model of sculptor Gottfried Bräunling.
9,350 kg of iron were cast for the globe, which is approx. 3 meters in diameter. Approximately 90 tons of sand were required to build the casting mold.
Material for the pattern: Styrofoam foam
material of the casting mold: Spheroidal graphite casting
Property is being developed just behind the railroad crossing and the roadbed for the bypass highway for Enkenbach. A new traffic circle helps solve a traffic situation.
The general public wanted to have a design with a local theme placed in the middle of the traffic circle. The story of a plowing elephant from Alsenborn's long circus tradition provided the idea. The animal had been put to work plowing during the difficult war years around 1917. The elephant, which had come by ocean container from Shanghai soon became the talk of the town; humorous ideas and stories began making the rounds. One of the questions which needed to be settled was in which direction to have the giant animal's granite rear end should point. The solution which would prove satisfactory to both sides of town: The 16-ton pachyderm stands exactly along the border between the two districts.
Am 21. In June of 2006 the sculpture was unveiled at the new traffic circle in Enkenbach-Alsenborn. Using cutting edge technology, Hegerguss donated the figure of the farmer created according to early photographs. Using an old photograph as a model, an old man was found and asked to put on farmer's clothes. A body scan provided the data for the casting.
